How you can influence the future direction
of acne treatment research

Acne treatment research

Most of the basic research required to develop new acne treatments is carried out in universities or in industry.  It takes a lot of time and a great deal of money before this basic work is translated into a new treatment.  Once the new treatment becomes available, lots of separate studies will be required to compare it with existing treatments in order to find out its relative safety and efficacy.   Sometimes it is possible to combine treatments and research is needed to find out which combinations work better than single treatments.  Another good way of finding better treatments for acne is to test ones that work in conditions that have features in common with acne and see if they also make acne better.
